Domaine Boudau Rivesaltes sur Grains 2001, A.C. Rivesaltes Vin Doux Naturel .

Colour: very deep, dark, purple.
Nose: Intense, deep, rich and sweet, spicy and complex fruity (confit), raisiny balsamic, nuances of tea, complex, some alcohol warmth.
Taste: powerful, intense, very sweet, but balanced with nice, young, spicy tannins, freshness and deep fruit (dried), some pepper, some bitters, perfect balance. Resembling Port, but a bit lighter, with more elegance.
Finish: quite long, spicy, with powerful tannins, rich sweetness, some smoky nuances, dried fruit, pepper and complexity.

* A very special sweet red wine, made of 100% Grenache grapes, fortified, thus with natural unfermented sweetness of the grapes. Less heavy than Port, but in the same style. Refined and powerful. Complex and balanced. Concentrated wine because of low yields and old vines, good expression of the terroir because of the quality vineyards and quality orientated producer.

- Drink from now on, will keep well (for at least 5 - 10 years) but will gradually change into a less fruity, more earthy and spicy style of wine.

- Not yet discovered top class producer of Roussillon wines, Not cheap, very high quality.

- lotnr.: L 043617105

- tasted: 03-03-’03

- estimated retail price ca. 12 euro

- average production: 10.000 bottles
