Ciani Verduzzo Friulano 2005, D.O.C. Grave del Friuli. **HERITAGE WINE**

color:  intense yellow-gold .
Nose:  a bit restrained, mild, sweet, fresh, with a spicy-earthy character featuring honey, flowers, caramel and some hints of nuts and tobacco, attractive and specific.
Taste:  medium sweet, round, mild, soft, nice concentration with attractive freshness, impressions of honey, white fruit and almond, also some mineral nuances and some slight and mild bitters, balancing the sweetness. easy drinking style, low-key specific character.
Finish: medium long, sweet, fresh, smooth and supple, with nice honey, spices and some almonds, nice concentration, a touch of alcohol, well balanced.

* A medium sweet white wine with an interesting soft and very smooth character, low-key aromatic character with impressions of honey, minerals, almonds, flowers and a nice freshness, well balanced wine with a very original style.

- Drink this wine from now on, it might be kept for one or maybe two years, but aging will change the wines character into a more earthy and nutty style, it is the honey and flowers that make this wine so nice at this moment.  Definitely drink before 2009.

- The white Friulian grape Verduzzo is being rediscovered, the style is not very expressive, but has an attractive earthy character. A far cry from sauvignon blanc or Chardonnay, but quite interesting in the spectrum of wine tastes and aroma's. It is a good thing regional grapes are still being used for wine making. Exporting them is the next step in the process to prevent extinction.
