France

Prestige de Naudin 2002, V.d.P. de Saint-Sardos.

Colour: dark red with purple rim.
Nose: very expressive, a lot of ripe and succulent red and black fruits (plums and cherries), some (white) peppery notes, clean, attractive, sweet , spicy and fresh.
Taste: medium bodied, round, but fresh and lively, some spicy tannins, elegant, medium powerful, with a very expressive, straightforward fruitiness (cherries, raspberries) and many peppery , spicy nuances with hints of liquorice, supple, but with a clear, regional character.
Finish: medium long, some peppery tannins, some liquorice and a load of ripe fruit, also fresh and clean.

* Well balanced "modern" red wine, expressive and deliciously fruity, supple and fresh wine of medium power and body, attractively spicy and peppery in style. An interesting combination of easy drinking and regional character at an attractive price. Could do with a touch more flesh or body, but nevertheless a very good wine. Blend of 75% Syrah, 13% Cabernet Franc and 12% Tannat, short maceration (8 days), no oak ageing.

- Very good drinking now, will probably keep for one year, maybe a bit longer, but there is no object in keeping this wine as it will not improve with age.

- Produced by a quality oriented, but small and virtually unknown coop in the South-West of France which also makes other idiosyncratic wines such as a lightly sparkling semi sweet (muscat) rosé with only 2,5 % alcohol.

- lotnr.: L SN A2
