Quinta da Romaneira Vintage  2000, D.O. Porto

Colour: deep, black purple.
Nose: Rich sweet and ripe black fruit (brambles, cherries, plums) with loads of smoky, spicy nuances, peppery vanillin, some balsamic, phenolic and asphalt impressions, a whiff of chocolate, grape skin nuances and complexity.
Taste: full-bodied, powerful, rich and sweet, well balanced, good compact tannin- and acid structure hidden behind the sweetness, quite concentrated mid palate, well integrated alcohol, nice complexity of ripe and cooked, black fruit, some vanilla and spices.
Finish: quite long and intense, many young tannins, rounded off by the natural sweetness, good and beautiful fruit, nice spicy and earthy nuances, still young.

* A serious Vintage Port, rich, sweet and loaded with spicy, black fruit, vanillin and warm earth nuances, very well balanced, multi layered, rich and with ample, ripe tannins,
medium sweet version, medium power, good structure and definition. Not the most complex, concentrated or powerful Vintage Port, but for its price a great buy. Beats many, much more expensive Vintages 2000 with ease.

- Can be drunk now, will close-up from mid 2004 till 2006, expect to mature very well over the few decades up to 2030.

- Very good, classic Vintage Port in the Portuguese (slightly sweet) style, well balanced and structured, a Vintage for medium term cellaring nice complexity and depth.
