Italy

Umbria Viticoltori  Associati  Orvieto 2005, D.O.C. Orvieto.

Colour:  medium yellow.
Nose:  a bit restrained, fresh, with exotic white fruit (pineapple, pear), honey, minerals, yeast, some fennel, quite rich, some depth, quite clean, well balanced.
Taste:  quite intense, full bodied, dry, very fresh acidity, lots of herby-nuances, rich, ripe fruit, a touch of bitterness, good balance.
Finish: quite intense, fresh, piquant acidity, but also rich and round (full bodied) with herbs and beautiful ripe fruit.

* A very modern styled Orvieto, dry, rich and clean character with strong and refreshing acidity, a slight characteristic touch of bitterness, nice fruit, minerals and herbs, well balanced and strong character. Excellent quality / price ratio.

- Drink this wine from now, do not keep this wine as its young and fresh character is its most attractive feature. Drink before mid 2007.

- Produced with the latest techniques from Trebbiano, Verdello, Grechetto, Canaiolo Bianco, and Malvasia. Not a fashionable blend with highly aromatic grapes, but a composition of grapes that complement each other in a very attractive way. This highly drinkable wine has a surprisingly strong identity for its low price. It is very well produced as well.
Industrial wines are too often seen as inferior products. In many cases only the quality is sufficient, but sometimes also its character is really interesting. This (high-tech)wine proves big volume does not mean boring quality and style. Excellent quality / price ratio.
