Domaine Bernhard & Reibel Gewürztraminer 2005, A.C. Alsace

color:  very light yellow with green.
Nose: expressive, spicy, flowery (rose petals), fruity (lychee's) and with impressions of honey, both fresh and a touch sweet, clean and attractive.
Taste: medium-bodied, medium intense, fresh, some restrained sweetness, round, mild, spicy, herby, impressions of rose petals, lychee's, tea and some honey, clean and refreshing, well balanced.
Finish: medium intense, expressive, fresh, clean, with alcohol, herbs, spices, flowers and some honey, clean and honest style.

* A refreshing, modest and honest Gewürztraminer, round and smooth with a tiny touch of sweetness, spicy-fruity (lychee's), flowery (rose petals) ripe and mild, aromatic and well balanced, good and pure eco-wine.

- Drink this wine when it is still young and fresh. It can age to a certain extend, but this does not bring much extra to this wine. Drink before 2009.

- A remarkably consistent "basic" organic Gewürztraminer from a strong minded and quality oriented producer, providing all you expect from a good and sound Gewürztraminer; aromatics, smoothness, roundness and as a bonus a delicious freshness that balances the low-key sweetness very nicely.   An honest and pure wine. A far cry from the over-heavy and sweet Gewürztraminers too often found on the shelves. The more luxurious cuvée's (e.g.)  Hahnenberg from the same producer posses more depth, concentration and refinement, but sell at other prices.
