Vinha D'Ervideira Colheita Selectionada 2001, D.O. C. Alentejo. **HERITAGE WINE**

Colour: deep, dark red with browning edges.
Nose: expressive, earthy and a bit gamy-fruity, apricot, sweet cherry, warm, round with spices (cinnamon, cloves), vanillin, creamy caramel, balsamic nuances, a touch of smoke. Distinctly modern and fruit driven style, but unmistakably Portuguese.
Taste: quite full-bodied, soft, rich, powerful, quite intense, with lots of warm and earthy fruit, caramel, vanillin, smoke, spices and alcohol.  Not subtle but deliciously soft and intense.
Finish: quite long, soft, a bit sweetish, but dry enough, spicy, with loads of fruit and wood nuances, some alcohol, many, but very soft tannins.

* Rich, round, intensely fruity and warm spicy dry red wine, expressive Portuguese in aroma, modern, oak aged, easy accessible style with some
depth and sweet, soft tannins.  A far cry from the dried out acid and astringent old fashioned "classic" reds.

- Can be drunk now, will keep up to 2006.

- The new wine wave has reached Portugal, soft and easy to access, intense and full-bodied richly fruity and wooded wine. Not refined but very able to let you forget the cold winter day's. Very good quality for the price.

- lotnr.:

- tasted: 14-11-’03, and many times before since mid march '03  (consistent notes, maturing into a more spicy, earthy style)

- estimated retail price ca. 8,00 euro

- average production: not known
