Torreguaceto "Dedalo" 2003, I.G.T. Rosso del Salento

Color: very dark red with some brown.
Nose:  expressive, warm, a bit Port-like, rich, raisiny, gamy, lots of terroir (earthy), some sweetnes, quite complex and refined, some depth, beautiful, (maturing) style, good balance.
Taste:  powerful, intense, strong acidity, many tannins, , juicy mid-palate, many earthy nuances, some gamy impressions, spices, with some sweetnes, tobacco and pepper, quite complex and unique style.
Finish: long, intense, warm, but with an uplifting acidity, earthy, balsamic and gamy nuances, spices, a touch of sweetness, tobacco, smoke, very nice balance.

* Beautifull red wine from a warm/hot region, displaying many earthy, gamy and spicy impressions next to the ripe fruit, produced from the Ottavianello (Cinsault) of French origin, the acidity provides elegance and  complexity. Organically produced wine.
 

- Drink this wine between now and 2008, I doubt it will improve with age, I believe it is at its peak now.

- Very reliable producer in the ultimate south of Italy making mainly strong and well structured wines. The Ottavianello grape used for this wine is the Cinsault originating from France. It gives  a remarkable fresh and elegant wine for this Southern Italian region with a strong own character as well.
