Torreguaceto "Pietraluna" 2005, I.G.T. Negramaro del Salento

Color: black-red with some purple.
Nose:  medium expressive, warm, spicy, earthy, a bit sweet and cooked, some ripe black fruit, a whiff of black pepper, balsamic nuances, not young but also not yet mature impressions, some depth, quite attractive, not elegant or refined, very pure.
Taste:  round, warm, spicy and tannic, some earthy nuances, nice ripe fruit, mineral, fresh acidity, nice mid palate, some softness and juiciness, good balance,  warm style with a fresh touch.
Finish: medium long, powerful, earthy, spicy, warm, mineral and also still compact (young), well balanced, refreshing acidity, very pure.

* This wine obviously comes from a warm region, but has also a balancing touch of freshness, the strong and pure character displays ripe fruit, spices and balsamic nuances, the tannins are powerful but well embedded in the juicy taste impressions. Characterful, organically produced wine.

- Drink this wine between now and 2008, may improve with age a bit, will lose some fruit and gain a bit softness and sweetness.

- Very reliable producer in the ultimate south of Italy making mainly strong and well structured wines. Sometimes wines from this region and produced from the negramaro tend to heaviness and sweetness. this wine has to much character and concentration for that, this wine has a strong own character.
