Domaine du Vieux Chêne  Cuvée des Capucines 2005, A.C. Côtes du Rhône. **HERITAGE WINE**

color: very dark and intense red with purple.
Nose:  a bit closed, but gradually opening up during tasting, with spicy-fruity nuances, some warmth, a touch of pepper, brambles, nice hidden depth and also some elegance despite the obvious alcohol, still young but well balanced. Pure and honest style.
Taste: compact, powerfull, still young, intense, warm, medium bodied with strong, young, but ripe tannins, good juicy mid palate with fruit (brambles and berries) nice spicy nuances, pepper and a hint of cedar. Enough freshness to balance the alcohol, pure style.
Finish: reasonably long, spicy, intense, clean, with many young tannins, some freshness, warmth, impressions of juicy fruit, earthiness and a touch of cedar.

* Young and compact wine, very pure and honest style, with ripe fruit, spices, a touch of cedar, fresh acidity, ample alcohol and strong tannins, good intensity and well balanced. A wine with tension and excitement, has still aging potential, ecologically produced.

- Can be drunk now, but will improve the next year or two, will gradually become more earthy and spicy in style. Will never be a smooth wine, but will provide tension and excitement because of its strong character. Drink before 2011

- Recommended wine from a very reliable organic producer. Their wines seem to have traded elegance and refinement for weight and structure since the conversion towards organic viticulture. Also the vintage 2005 plays an important role: the drought conditions has yielded wines with a lot of strong tannins, the same applies for 2004 and 2003. Very natural in style, nice expression of the grapes (90% grenache, 10% syrah).  No fashionable oak or over extraction, just pure and the best you can produce from these vineyards. To be able to talk about Rhône: taste this wine.
