France

Domaine du Vieux Chêne Cuvée des Seigneurs blanc 2003, A.C. Côtes du Rhône Villages.

Colour: light yellow with a hint of green.
Nose: a bit restrained, with herbs and some flowers, a touch of ginger, minerals, some fruit and almonds, not fruity or fresh, but rich, warm and earthy.
Taste: full-bodied, rich, unctuous, creamy, earthy, some herbs, a touch of ginger, with firm acidity, quite nuanced, very fresh and clean. Good balance between richness and fresh acidity.
Finish: quite long, intense, upcoming, with herbs and spices, clean, with many earthy nuances and almonds, alcohol, freshness.

* Ecologically produced dry white wine, strong, intense and very rich and unctuous with firm acidity, restrained aroma's of dominantly earthy nuances, almonds and herbs. Not the modern fruity and fresh or wooded style, but very pure and strong expression of terroir.

- Could be drunk now, will change and improve with age (tastes much better the second day) and will gain in complexity offering more nutty and earthy nuances will keep until 2007.

- Recommended wine if you are looking for something special that goes well with white meats and rich fish dishes. Not the sexy, seductive new world style, but pure and unique, strong resemblance with white Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines.
Ecological producer, very reliable through the years, luxurious cuvée produced from low yielding (35 hl/ha) old vines Picpoul and Roussanne. Wines from this producer are excellent examples of the expression of the terroir. No fashionable oak or over extraction, just pure and the best you can produce from these vineyards.
