La Bodega de Pinoso "Vermador" Rosado Ecologico Monastrell 2007, D.O. Alicante.

Color: very light rosé with purple.
Nose: expressive, with juicy fruit (strawberry, pear, raspberry), some sweetness, freshness and also quite rich and mild. Clean and nuanced style.
Taste: medium intense, supple, fresh, mild, round, with lots of ripe fruit, minerals, but also warm, spicy nuances and some mild bitters, clean and well balanced, easy drinking wine.
Finish: medium intense, mild, with a touch of sweetness, some alcohol, a slight but attractive bitterness, some freshness, ripe fruit, good balance.

* An organically produced wine, round, smooth and easy drinking wine, with good fruit, mild freshness and some spicy and mineral nuances. Clean style with very good balance. Very good value for money!

- This wine is intended to be drunk very  young like its other Vermador brothers Vermador tinto +
Vermador tinto barrica Always drink the youngest vintage available.

- This wine is made of organically grown Monastrell grapes. The Monastrell (called Mataro in the New World) is not an easy ingredient if you want to make supple and soft wines. It is loaded with strong and fierce tannins. It is at least closely related to the French Mourvčdre (Bandol) grape, but has great fruit potential and can provide richness. The Monastrell also makes quite attractive an characterful rosado's, packed with spicy fruit and some tannins and a slight, attractive bitterness. The red wines from this grape always have strong characters with good structure and extract, strong color and also a very spicy character in young wines that turns into more balsamic nuances after aging. Blending with other (less severe) grapes is common practice except in some regions as Alicante, Jumilla and Yecla. This wine is obviously made from grapes from old vineyards, it shows clearly in the depth of the wine and the very nice dense fruit. Modern techniques, careful maturation in wood and a very skilled wine maker fashion this wine into a easy to drink, but highly individual wine of very good quality. The regional climate is kind to organic viticulture as one can taste in this wine. Like the dry white Vermador this is not a middle of the road wine, this is a statement of dedication, quality and respect for terroir.
The Spanish seem to do the right thing when it comes to wine making. Huge investments were (and are being) made in the wineries and vineyards with impressive wines as a result. La Bodega de Pinoso is a big cooperative producer to watch closely, since vintage 2006 several wines have made enormous progress. The style is more aimed at the demanding export market, before 2006 the local and Spanish market dictated the style: more sturdy and strong wines crying out for rich dishes. Now various wines are produced that easily can compete in style, quality and price with those of the New World. They still are unmistakably Spanish in style which is a very good thing these days: preserving the precious identity that makes wine so fascinating and enjoyable.  La Bodega de Pinoso is also producing some very good (since vintage 2006) non-organic wines too (brands "Torre del Reloj" and "Pontos").
